Moby Quotes

1. Intellectually, human beings and animals may be different, but it's pretty obvious that animals have a rich emotional life and that they feel joy and pain. It's easy to forget the connection between a hamburger and the cow it came from. But I forced myself to acknowledge the fact that every time I ate a hamburger, a cow had ceased to breathe and moo and walk around.


2. The way I work on music is that I go into my studio, and I start playing music, and I see what happens and…I never think about it.


3. But at the same time, I don't let myself regret things to the point that I'm paralyzed.

23. Some of the songs I've made, I'm really disappointed in how I mixed them.

Three of these eight dolphins were born at the facility and had never been in the wild, compacting our concern for their well being...Once we realized the dolphins had been swept out to sea during the hurricane, we feared that they had died. We are just thrilled that they have stayed together during the past couple of weeks.

I learned in the last few years that it's really unhappy and really unsustainable to try and base your well being on something as arbitrary as record sale and critical acclaim and the interests of the public. All of those things are so fickle. So my approach now to music is I want to make records that I love, and I hope that other people love them, then that's OK.

31. But on a utilitarian level, I realize that to try to accomplish the greatest good for the greatest number of people, sometimes we have to become salesmen for what we believe, and part of being a salesman is being effective.


32. I thought that my life would be spent working in a bookstore, teaching community college, and making music in my spare time that no one would be willing to listen to.



33.  The little characters I draw are very simple, very naive, and I guess I am too in a lot of ways.





34. I run into a lot of people who are instantly filled with ridicule at the idea that someone wouldn't eat meat.

35. I personally donated $2,500 to the Red Cross yesterday. Normally I don't like to tell how much I donated and to whom, but I felt sometimes it's good to share info in the hopes that others will feel inspired to donate whatever they can.
