Gene Simmons On Kurt Cobain And Amy Winehouse: "They Are Not Music Icons Just Because They Died Young"

Gene Simmons claimed Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse do not deserve to be considered as music icons.

During an interview with "The Classic Rock Magazine Show," Simmons, 64, revealed there have been no real legends in the music business in the past 30 years.

"From 1984 until today, name one superstar that's bigger than their music, and not just somebody that's recorded one or two records, but another Queen or another AC/DC, or somebody with a body of work?" Simmons. You can't name one," Simmons was quoted as saying.

The Kiss frontman added: "Kurt Cobain - no, that's one or two records. That's not enough. Amy Winehouse - that's one or two records. That's not enough. What, just because you died, that makes you an icon? No, no, there aren't any."
