Louis Tomlinson Under Fire After Promoting Weight-Loss Shake

Louis Tomlinson is under fire after sharing on twitter about a Bootea smoothie he drank, clearly not knowing it is sold as a weight-loss product.


Tomlinson, 21, initially told his 13.9 million twitter followers: "Had an amazing @BooteaUK smoothie from Bootea.com this morning #booteashake."


Later some of Tomlinson's infuriated fans pointed out that Bootea is specifically geared for "weight loss," a fact made apparent on its website, which offers products that promise to "burn fat" and "suppress appetite."





A backlash followed, with twitter users calling out Louis for promoting a weight-loss shake to young fans.


The One Direction member finally removed the tweet, but not before it was retweeted more than 10,000 times.






The Bootea Shake is currently listed as "sold out" on the company's website.

A rep for Tomlinson was quoted as saying: "Louis tweeted about the drink as he had one this morning and enjoyed it. However, he did not realize they are associated with weight loss, and would never endorse weight loss products."
