Beyonce Shatters iTunes Sales Records

Beyonce has damaged several iTunes sales records in the wake of debuting her surprise album on Friday.

The album, which is now only available through the online music provider, has sold a tremendous 617,213 copies in America, breaking the platform's first-week U.S. sales record.

That's actually more than the 465,000 units purchased of the previous title-holder, Taylor Swift's 2012 album "Red".

Both figures pale in comparison to Beyonce's international iTunes premiere - a record-breaking 828,773 copies have been sold in just three days.

That makes it iTunes quickest-selling album ever.

As for the album, it currently ranks number one in 104 countries according to Apple.

Needless to say, the album is also likely to debut in the top spot on the Billboard 200, becoming Beyonce's fifth number one album.
