Bobby Womack Dead At 70

Bobby Womack is dead. He was 70.

Womack's sister claims he passed away in his sleep on Thursday.

No official cause of death has been disclosed.

Womack sang at the Bonnarroo Music and Arts Festival less than two weeks ago.

The performer's career dates back to the 1950s, when he and his brothers were in The Valentinos.

Womack went on to write and record what would finally become the Rolling Stones' first no. 1, "It's All Over Now," and had a remarkable solo career with nearly 30 studio albums.

The singer was inducted into the Rock and Roll Music Hall of Fame in 2009 and released his most recent album in 2012.

A new record, titled "The Best Is Yet To Come", was scheduled to be released this year.

Womack battled with several health woes over the years, including drug abuse, diabetes and colon cancer.
