Rosie Perez And Nicolle Wallace Named New "The View" Co-Hosts

Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace have been named as the new co-hosts of "The View".

According to ABC, the new panel will make its debut on September 15.

Rosie O'Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg will return to join the show.

Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy left "The View" last month and Barbara Walters, who created the series and served as the longest-running co-host, retired earlier this year.

Perez, 49, is probably well known for her movie career, but is also a successful community activist.

"I am beyond thrilled, honored and completely surprised that I've been asked to join "The View"," the actress was quoted as saying.

Perez went on: "Knowing that I'll be in the company of Whoopi, Rosie and Nicolle, three very smart and engaging women that I have an immense amount of respect for, makes it even more unbelievable," adding: "The opportunity to connect with our nation's audience on a daily basis…icing on the cake! Very happy."

Wallace, 42, is a best-selling author and conservative political commentator who served as communications chief during the presidency of George W. Bush and in his 2004 re-election campaign.

Wallace claimed: "I am honored to join the tradition of compelling conversations that has been the signature of "The View" for the better part of two decades."

"I have watched "The View" for many years and now to be seated alongside three women that I have admired is both humbling and incredibly exciting," Wallace stated.

Perez and Wallace both guest-hosted on the series during the past season.
