Stephen Collins Plays Pedophile Priest In Short Film (VIDEO)

Stephen Collins plays a pedophile priest in a short movie titled "Penance" that is now on the festival circuit, a horrible and disturbing coincidence following the shocking revelation that Collins sexually molested young girls in real life.

In the film, which was made in 2013, Collins, 67, portrays a much different kind of church leader than the one he played on "7th Heaven." Collins' part is visited by a male "hounded by personal demons and inner turmoil," whose encountering with the priest leads him to "discover exactly what it means to find forgiveness… or to give it."

The "7th Heaven" star discussed "Penance" during an interview earlier this year, describing it as "intense" and a "powerful piece."

Director Jeff Wolfe explained to People magazine: "When I cast Stephen Collins, I had no idea there might be a connection between his real life and the part I asked him to play. I found the recent allegations particularly shocking, as my film is meant to speak to victims of abuse and the idea that the effects of abuse never really go away."
