"New York Times" Columnist David Carr Dead At 58

Legendary New York Times columnist David Carr has died on Thursday. He was 58.

Earlier that same day, Carr led a TimesTalks conversation with Edward Snowden and Citizenfour director Laura Poitras.

"For the past 25 years, Mr. Carr wrote about media," a member of The Times wrote in a post for the website, adding: "He joined The Times in 2002 as a business reporter covering the magazine publishing industry. His column appeared in the Monday business section and focused on media issues, including print, digital, film, radio and television."

Carr leaves behind his wife, Jill, and their daughters Maddie, Erin and Meagan.
