"Barefoot In The Park" And "The Odd Couple" Director Gene Saks Dead At 93

Gene Saks died of pneumonia on Saturday in his East Hampton home, N.Y at the age of 93.

According the Deadline, the famous director and actor is survived by his second wife Keren, whom he married in 1980, and his daughter.

Gene was married to fellow Actors Studio member, actress Bea Arthur from 1950-1980. The pair had two sons by adoption.

Saks was perhaps best known for bringing Neil Simon's "Barefoot in The Park" and "The Odd Couple" to the big screen.

Saks was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 1991.

"Gene was serious about funny," Emanuel Azenberg, who produced the Broadway plays of the same name, told the outlet, adding: "He actually knew what would be funny. Physical humor he understood - the look, here, a pause there."
