Frances McDormand Slams Plastic Surgery Obsession

We all know that in Hollywood the pressure is too high for celebrities to remain forever young. On the other hand, there are few of them who swear that they will never go under the plastic surgeon's knife. The reason? Well, these celebrities have completely come to terms with their flaws and love being natural.

When it comes to Frances McDormand, plastic surgery procedures are out of the question.

In fact, McDormand, 58, is well known for her very negative stance towards any type of plastic surgery.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, the star said that she doesn't have time for vanity.

"We are on red alert when it comes to how we are perceiving ourselves as a species," McDormand claimed, noting: "There's no desire to be an adult. Adulthood is not a goal. It's not seen as a gift. Something happened culturally: No one is supposed to age past 45 - sartorially, cosmetically, attitudinally. Everybody dresses like a teenager. Everybody dyes their hair. Everybody is concerned about a smooth face."

Frances gives you the impression of staying away from everything from hair dye to makeup, let alone succumbing to botox or getting a facelift

McDormand revealed that her husband, actor Joel Coen, has had to hold her back from attacking people about their decision to get plastic surgery.

"I have not mutated myself in any way," the actress explained, adding: "Joel and I have this conversation a lot. He literally has to stop me physically from saying something to people - to friends who've had work. I'm so full of fear and rage about what they've done."

McDormand admitted that she is used to having her appearance criticized as she hasn't fit into the rigid standards of Hollywood since starting her acting career.

"I was often told that I wasn't a thing," Frances was quoted as saying.

""She's not pretty enough, she's not tall enough, she's not thin enough, she's not fat enough." I thought: "O.K., someday you're going to be looking for someone not, not, not, not, and there I'll be.""
